What time will the flushing occur?
Flushing will start at 7:00 pm and will continue overnight until 7:00 am.
How will I know my street will be flushed that night
Before the scheduled flushing starts "Water Main Flushing" signs will be placed on the affected blocks.
How do I know if they are done with my street?
The "Water Main Flushing" signs will be removed from your street if they completed the flushing. Due to unforeseen circumstances the flushes may take more than one night, if an additional night of flushing is required the signs will remain on your street.
Why is this flushing necessary?
The unidirectional flushing is part of regular maintenance and removes material buildup from the waterlines.
What should I do to prepare for the flushing?
Residents are encouraged to set aside a store of water to flush toilets, wash hands, wash dishes and consumption for the duration of the flushing in your area. Residents and businesses are advised not to use water while their lines are being flushed and to shut down water softeners if possible.
What should I do once the flushing is done on my street?
Run the water from an outside tap for 10 minutes or until the water runs clear (if necessary). Restart your water softeners, freezers, or any other devices that were turned off.
