Officials with the North Battleford Fire Department uncovered the remains of a deceased individual as part of the routine fire cause investigation of the premises located at 952-105th Street on Monday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased has not been released and the file has been referred to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency for investigation, with monitoring by the Battlefords RCMP Detachment. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and no further updates will be provided at this time.

Note: An earlier version of this release indicated the file is currently being investigated by the RCMP's Major Crimes Unit.
