Numerous events scheduled in honour of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation in the Battlefords
Temporary street closures in downtown North Battleford Monday
The City of North Battleford will be temporarily closing a small number of streets in the downtown core on Monday, September 25th to accommodate a number of people taking part in an official flag raising for the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
Organized by the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs and supported by the City of North Battleford, the Acâhkos Awâsisak-Star Children flag raising event will feature a number of local First Nations Chiefs, Elders, dignitaries, and school children. In the interest of public safety, the City of North Battleford will be closing 101st Street between 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue on Monday, September 25th from 10:30am-12:15pm.
A portion of 13th Avenue will be reduced to single-lane traffic in this area of the community. The City’s Director of Protective Services, in partnership with Community Safety Officers, will be on site to assist with traffic control. A Voyent! Alert will be issued to alert the public. Voyent! Alerts can be downloaded free of charge by visiting the City’s website, www.cityofnb.ca.
The Acâhkos Awâsisak-Star Children flag raising is the first in a series of regional events to honour the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation on September 30th. The City of North Battleford is proud to promote and support these events, and encourages attendance by all community members so we may strengthen our relationship with our Indigenous community members and partners.
