The City of North Battleford has a full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator position available in the Operations Department. Roles and responsibilities include Operating both Class 3 Surface WTP and Class 2 Groundwater WTP using SCADA and manual controls. Follow Emergency Response, Contingency Plans, or SOPs for reporting and correcting the production of any water that does not meet standards for turbidity, iron, manganese, chlorine disinfection and/or UV irradiation. Start-up, shut down, and making periodical operation checks of plant equipment such as pumping systems, chemical feeders, auxiliary equipment, measuring and control systems. Perform preventive maintenance, confined space cleaning of SCU, operating adjustments, cleaning and painting. Perform corrective maintenance on plant equipment, for example chemical feed pumps, chlorine gas equipment, online analyzers, UV and other units. The principal function of this role is the production, storage and distribution of safe clean potable water to the residents of the City of North Battleford.

Qualifications

· Post-secondary education in water, wastewater, engineering, science, and/ or related field is required. Relevant trades certification as defined by the Operator Certification Board will also be considered as acceptable secondary education. Educational requirements are based on the Operator Certification Standards.

· Adept with computers and Microsoft Suite applications including data entry with access and reporting.

· WHMIS, Confined space Entry, TDG and First Aid/CPR, H2S and Fall Arrest.

· Work with chlorine and extensive knowledge of chlorine safety an asset

· Experience with SCADA is an asset.

· Mechanical ability an asset.

· Provide a satisfactory criminal record check up hire.

Must have a valid class 5 Saskatchewan Vehicle Operator’s License and provide a satisfactory drivers abstract upon hire
