The Summer Recreation Assistant Program Coordinator is a seasonal summer student position at the City of North Battleford. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating all the summer day camps & youth specialty programs put on by the City through the summer months. Over the months of July and August they will lead Summer Day Camps along with a Summer Program Leader. From May through August, they will be planning out these summer camps as well as assisting the InnovationPlex Manager, Community Programmer and Gallery Manager with other Recreation and Arts Programming and Events including events to celebrate “June is Recreation and Parks Month”.
Qualifications
- • Minimum of one-year post-secondary in one of the following: Recreation, Education, Kinesiology, Sport Management, Social Work, or a related field.
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated, energetic, and creative.
• Must be physically able to fulfill job duties.
• Experience working with children an asset.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as a team player.
• Exceptional organizational and customer Service Skills.
• Supervisory, coaching, instructing and mentoring experience is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers’ license.
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR “C”/AED Certification.
• Provide a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector upon hire.
Duties and Responsibilities
- • Administers, plans, delivers, and assesses summer day camp/youth programs, June is Recreation and Parks Month events.
• Order supplies and equipment for programs.
• Maintain and manage a budget of less than $5,000.00.
• Maintain professionalism while representing the City of North Battleford’s Parks and Recreation Department.
• Compile and distribute program information and promotional materials for all summer programming.
• Advertise and promote the City day camp/youth programs to schools and residents.
• Track, compile and report program statistics.
• Compile and manage documentation, such as permission forms and waivers, for all registered programs as directed by the InnovationPlex Manager.
• Organize and arrange transportation.
• Set up and lead recreational activity and ensure the safety of patrons.
• Assist in other areas of department as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

Rate of Pay:
$17.52 (2024 CUPE Rates)
Hours of Work:
40 hours per Week, May to August * Weekends required in May and June*
