Ref # PA2025 - Parks Assistant I - Full-Time Temporary - (6 Months)

The City of North Battleford has a Parks Assistant position available; this position is under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation and directly supervised by the Parks and Arena Manager. This role operates a variety of heavy and light powered equipment necessary in performing general landscaping and maintenance of all City gardens, flower baskets, municipal park sites, sports fields, parks turf areas, cemeteries, municipal walkway system, and various municipal institutional sites. Specific tasks include planting, watering, and providing care for nursery stock opening, cutting grass, raking grass, chainsaw operation, repairing lands, securing buildings and general manual labour.

Qualifications

•    Grade 12 or G.E.D. or equivalent.
•    Basic knowledge of materials and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, and installation of park fields, grounds, landscapes, and facilities is an asset. 
•    Knowledge of irrigation systems and seasonal processes is an asset.
•    Competency in operating grounds maintenance and landscape machinery (i.e., lawnmower) is an asset.
•    Competency with backhoes, skid-steers, pay loaders, and tractors is an asset.
•    Demonstrate competency in operating hand tools and power tools
•    Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license

Year 1 $22.01 Year 2 $22.89 Year 3 $23.80 (2024 CUPE)    

Hours of Work:

8 hrs/day; 40 hrs/week
