Nomination packages for Mayor, Councillor candidates now available for 2024 Municipal Election

Prospective candidates for the 2024 Municipal Election for the City of North Battleford can start assembling their required documents for Nomination Packages as of this week.          

The Nomination Packages are available for download on the City’s website and differ for Mayoral and Council candidates. The Nomination Packages include a checklist to ensure candidates are on track to provide all required information to the Returning Officer during the Nomination Period – September 25-October 9, 2024. Nomination Packages will not be accepted before September 25^th, 2024 and must be received by the Returning Officer by no later than 4pm on October 9^th.

New this year for the North Battleford Municipal Election is the requirement to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and, if they choose, Vulnerable Sector (VS) Check from the Battlefords RCMP Detachment. The completed CRC/VS Check must be submitted with the candidate’s Nomination Package and must be issued by the local RCMP detachment within the 30 days prior to the candidate submitting their nomination papers to the City of North Battleford. This process can take 5-7 business days to complete and candidates are reminded that Nomination Packages will be considered incomplete if the document is not submitted by the deadline on October 9^th, 2024.

A candidate’s completed CRC/VS Check which indicates a record is or may be present will not exclude the candidate from running for a position on City Council.         

Prospective candidates are also encouraged to attend upcoming Candidate Information Sessions to be hosted separately by the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA), and the City of North Battleford.

• September 17^th – 4:30-6:30pm - ZOOM
