NBFD investigation underway for commercial property fire on October 14, 2024

The investigation into the cause of a serious structure fire which destroyed a commercial property is currently underway. North Battleford Fire Department crews were dispatched to the structure fire on the Highway 16 Bypass at 9:58pm on Monday night, with additional response from the RM of North Battleford Fire Department and the Town of Battleford Fire Department for mutual aid.

Residents throughout North Battleford experienced a power outage of approximately two hours after an electrical housing a main transmission line caught fire. SaskPower crews attended to restore the power on Monday night.

Upon arrival, a portion of the structure was fully involved. Wind gusts of up to 47 km/h at the time of the fire contributed to adverse response conditions. NBFD personnel and Battlefords RCMP members evacuated the remainder of the structure. WPD Ambulance crews were on scene to assist, however, only minor injuries have been reported among the evacuated persons or first responders. A secondary search of the structure will be conducted today by the North Battleford Fire Department.
