Huge wave of support for 2024 Pack the Patrol Unit event

The annual Pack the Patrol Unit event, initiated by the City of North Battleford Community Safety Officers, continues to yield a massive influx of much-needed supplies for the Battlefords Humane Society.

“We are overwhelmed by the support from our community members each year,” commented CSO Unit Commander Jerry Koliniak. “The CSOs, Citizens on Patrol, Battlefords North Stars Players, and volunteers from the Humane Society collected about 2500 pounds of pet food and supplies for the Battlefords Humane Society at the event on December 6th.”

Koliniak noted that many generous community members opted to provide financial donations for the cause, totaling more than $3000.

Donations and supplies were collected at a number of locations in North Battleford, including Canadian Tire, No Frills, Walmart, and PetValu. Introduced this year was a new partnership with the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars at their Friday night matchup versus Weyburn. CSOs helped sell pucks for the “Puck Toss” during intermission at the game, with proceeds of the sales, in the amount of $310, being split between Citizens On Patrol, the Humane Society, and the North Stars.

Plans are already underway for the 2025 edition of the event, tentatively scheduled for December 5th.
