Location and Infrastructure
North Battleford boasts capital City infrastructure with excellent educational, health, telecommunication, road, rail and sporting facilities in place. In 2012 the Credit Union CUplex recreation and culture centre opened its doors. It includes four components: a performing arts theatre, aquatic centre, field house and curling rink.
Located on the TransCanada Highway 16, North Battleford is a one hour drive from Saskatoon and four hours from Edmonton, AB. The Highway 4 corridor intersects to facilitate north/south travel and easy access to northern recreation and natural resource developments.
There are also:
- Rail freight services that have a network to reach both the USA and Canadian populations;
- Regular flights to major centres from the international airport in Saskatoon (1 hour drive).
- Regional airport handling of all transport planes and charters.
- Services at the airport include agriculture and forestry spray training, ag pilot training, aircraft maintenance, flight training, fire suppression services and aircraft fuelling.
Every aspect of a modern, progressive and expanded health service exists in North Battleford. There is a first-class hospital facility within the City, two special care homes and the provincial Saskatchewan Psychiatric Hospital.
North Battleford has access to three post secondary education providers which include North West Regional College, SIAST and SIIT. The combined services offer comprehensive educational options in a diverse range of fields.
North Battleford is located on a fibre optic corridor. Our provincial and local companies have the capability to design, build and manage a variety of complex networks.
The North Saskatchewan River provides North Battleford with a plentiful and inexpensive water supply.
Power and Gas
Power and gas are supplied by SaskPower and SaskEnergy and is readily available in our area. North Battleford is home to the Yellowhead Power Station, a $250 M peak load power plant, and the North Battleford Energy Centre, a $750 M natural gas baseload power plant, constructed recently by Northland Power.
