North Battleford Planning and Development provides planning, development, and bylaw services to individuals, community groups and businesses.

Through cBlueprintsommunity engagement and consultation, the City Planner seeks to understand the values of the community, and reflect those values through the implementation of development policies, programs, bylaws and standards.

The department ensures the appropriate guidelines, regulations, tools and services are in place to build a sustainable and safe community.  These may include district planning, future growth, land use and zoning policy, development review, planning for new neighbourhoods, revitalizing existing neigborhoods, affordable housing, community safety, community and demographic research, heritage management and bylaw enforcement.  The City Planner works with community, business, First Nations and regional partners to foster mutually supportive relationships and sustainable development throughout the City and area.

Forward 2030: Healthy, Green, Safe & Strong: OCP

What is the Official Community Plan?

An Official Community Plan (OCP) establishes how a local government will grow. Development of North Battleford's OCP started in 2010 with the intention of a 30 year look ahead. The OCP will dictate public policy in terms of transporation, utilities, land use, recreation and housing.

"We are creating an updated plan that provides direction on a wide range of issues from land use to a strong growth management and sustainability focus. WE want residents to get involved as we develop the policies that will shape our City 30 years into the future." -- Tim LaFreniere, City Planner

The OCP is required under the Planning Act and is integral to the evolution of North Battleford. It is an opportunity to visualize opportunities and prioritize change.

Who is Involved?

The project involves the City of North Battleford as well as Crosby, Hanna and Associates who are consulting with all municipal departments and the community. All information and feedback will go into a report of objectives and policies to guide municipal decisions on planning.
