RECREATION COORDINATOR - PARKS & REC DEPT

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME - 1 YR TERM POSITION

North Battleford is a growing well-connected city with a population of approx 15,000, is located on the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway and serves as a service centre to Northwest Saskatchewan. The City of North Battleford is seeking a dynamic & enthusiastic person who is ready to manage a challenging but rewarding role as Recreation Coordinator. This position will report to the Director of Parks & Recreation and is responsible for the effective and efficient implementation and coordination of Recreation Programs.

Core functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
 Responsible for the operation of the City summer playground program. This includes recruitment and training of staff as well as coordinating programs with other agencies.
 Responsible for advertising of various programs and includes the production of the Department Fall and Winter Program brochure.
 Recruits, screens and trains necessary instructors for recreation programs. Arranges for facilities for the programs.
 Assists Facility Manager in scheduling the arenas and Don Ross Centre. Acts as a backup to the Facilities Manager for the operations of the Don Ross Centre.
 Administers a training program to ensure staff are fully trained & qualified to perform expected duties.
 Responsible for updating Department web page.
 Promotes an open relationship with clear & concise communication with all City employees.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
 Minimum diploma from a recognized recreation program or equivalent combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by the City.
 Preference will be given to those with experience in the community recreation field.
 Must be familiar with computers, web design and MS Office software.
 Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational, planning and time management skills assuming responsibility while working independently.
 Strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, community, enthusiasm and motivation.
 Must have a valid Sask driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
 Criminal record check required prior to start date.

The City offers competitive compensation dependent on qualifications and experience. Start date to be arranged.
