2017 Budget Deliberation Schedule
Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 - Planning and Leisure Departments (Operating and Capital Budgets).
6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 - Operations, Waste Management, Water and Sewer Departments (Operating and Capital Budgets).
5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 - Protective Services and General Government Departments as well as selected Grantees.
5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
All deliberations are held at City Hall Council Chambers and are open to the public.
The Department of Finance supports the City of North Battleford through leadership and direction in finance and administrative matters. Finance is the steward for accountability and governance of over $29 Million in annual revenue used to deliver City services to residents.
Finance is responsible for:
- Accounting and budgeting
- Everyday financial activities such as collecting from customers and paying suppliers
- Long-term investments
- Long-term financing to pay for investments
- Preparing Financial Statements, Public Accounts, Budgets, and other periodic reporting required by City stakeholders
Reports and Publications
Budgets and Capital Plan
The Department of Finance prepares a budget every year with recordings of the expenses and revenues for individual accounts from the previous year. The City then uses these figures to help estimate the expenses and revenues for the upcoming year.
The Department of Finance also produces a five year Capital Plan to provide the public with information on the City's finances for the next five years. This report helps show the current standing of the City and where the City expects to be in five years. This helps to project the City's financial standing for the upcoming years for expenses and revenues. The Budget and Capital Plan are approved by City Council.
Annual Financial Statements
The Department of Finance is required to prepare a Financial Statement providing Council, citizens, taxpayers, investors, creditors and other stakeholders with information on the financial standing of the City for that fiscal year. The statements are prepared using government standards, and audited by a private auditor's firm.

The Department of Finance prepares Public Accounts annually which reports the individuals and organizations that received funds from the City of North Battleford for that fiscal year, per legislative requirements.
