Planning Committee

The planning committee is made up of all members of council, chaired by the respective
deputy mayor.

The committee meets the third Monday of each month, excluding July and August, at 6 p.m., in council chambers at city hall.

Senior managers in the administration department are expected to attend.

The planning committee's goal is to devote sufficient time to discuss issues and to
complete long-term planning in preparation for recommendations to council for open debate
and resolution.

Matters relative to the operations of the administration, finance, human resources, risk management, leisure services, operations, maintenance and transportation, planning and development, building and licensing, utility services and protection and safety services would be reviewed at this committee level.


Leisure Services Advisory Committee

The leisure services advisory committee consists of: two city councillors, one which is
appointed as chair; two to four community members-at-large; and a youth representative from each of the three high schools in the city.

The committee meets every fifth Monday excluding the months of July and August, with the meetings starting at 4:15 p.m.

The mission statement for this committee is to engage the community and its youth in an
advisement role to enhance leisure service opportunities in the City of North Battleford. It also reviews applications and allocates funds under the Sask Lotteries grant program.

The Leisure Services Advisory Committee is committed to:

• Making recommendations with respect to leisure services programs and facilities which
affect the citizens of North Battleford;


• Liaising with community youth and considering their ideas, trends, and opinions;

• Acting as a conduit to the community for ideas and opinions on future capital
developments related to leisure services with a youth perspective, and;


• Collaborating with leisure services staff to enhance and strengthen current programs, services and facility development.
