Our mandate is to collect, catalogue and maintain paper, documents and photographs related to the City of North Battleford.
In 1988, the City’s 75th Anniversary Committee decided to donate $500 to start the Archives with the goal of maintaining and preserving the rich cultural heritage of North Battleford. Today, a volunteer organization works in partnership with the City of North Battleford towards that goal. The City Archives is a donation based repository and is made possible due to the generosity of the citizens of North Battleford, who wish to see the history of our great City preserved.
Right now, the City collection has over 10,000 pieces, including over 1100 photographs, 500 negatives and over 2 metres of textual records. The subjects covered within this material are very extensive and range in dates from the early 1900’s to the present. All items donated to the Archives are kept in a climate controlled, acid free environment that is up to the standards set out by the SCAA (Saskatchewan Council of Archives and Archivists).
Please enjoy our online photo gallery, which is only a small portion of what the Archives contains. We hope you will enjoy this trip down memory lane. If you are interested in donating items or researching the holdings, please contact Debbie Wohlberg, City Clerk, at 445-1719 or e-mail Debbie Wohlberg to arrange an appointment.
